{"id":19872,"date":"2019-10-26T14:21:40","date_gmt":"2019-10-26T19:21:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/blog\/?p=19872"},"modified":"2019-10-26T14:21:40","modified_gmt":"2019-10-26T19:21:40","slug":"do-you-feel-the-world-is-broken","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/blog\/2019\/20191026-19872.htm","title":{"rendered":"Do you feel the world is broken?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was sometime after Easter (which is shorthand for sometime after our miscarriage) when the church choir got up to sing a special piece.<\/p>\n<p>Tears sprung into my eyes at the very first line:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do you feel the world is broken?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>My heart answered back with the choir: &#8220;We do&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And in the darkness and difficulty of the past six months, that line has come to mind many a time.<\/p>\n<p>I hear stories of domestic abuse. I listen to the squabbling of &#8220;friends&#8221; online. I see drug abuse. I ache against the terrible realities of our foster care system, with so many problems, so many hard decisions. A friend&#8217;s baby develops an unknown, most likely life-threatening condition. Car accidents land people in the hospital. Uncertainty abounds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do you feel the world is broken?&#8221; my soul whispers as I read and as I live. &#8220;We do,&#8221; I answer back.<\/p>\n<p>And as I ache under the brokenness of this world, the cry rises up within my soul: &#8220;Come quickly, Lord Jesus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And, tears still coursing down my cheeks, I sing the rest of the song.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DMWrAqMWhWs\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Do you feel the world is broken? <em>We do<\/em><br \/>\nDo you feel the shadows deepen? <em>We do<\/em><br \/>\nBut do you know that all the dark won&#8217;t stop the light from getting through? <em>We do<\/em><br \/>\nDo you wish that you could see it all made new? <em>We do<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Is all creation groaning? <em>It is<\/em><br \/>\nIs a new creation coming? <em>It is<\/em><br \/>\nIs the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst? <em>It is<\/em><br \/>\nIs it good that we remind ourselves of this? <em>It is<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Is anyone worthy?<br \/>\nIs anyone whole?<br \/>\nIs anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?<br \/>\nThe Lion of Judah who conquered the grave<br \/>\nHe is David&#8217;s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave<br \/>\nIs He worthy? Is He worthy?<br \/>\nOf all blessing and honor and glory<br \/>\nIs He worthy of this?<br \/>\nHe is<\/p>\n<p>Does the Father truly love us? <em>He does<\/em><br \/>\nDoes the Spirit move among us? <em>He does<\/em><br \/>\nAnd does Jesus, our Messiah hold forever those He loves? <em>He does<\/em><br \/>\nDoes our God intend to dwell again with us?  <em>He does<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Is anyone worthy?<br \/>\nIs anyone whole?<br \/>\nIs anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?<br \/>\nThe Lion of Judah who conquered the grave<br \/>\nHe is David&#8217;s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave<br \/>\nFrom every people and tribe<br \/>\nEvery nation and tongue<br \/>\nHe has made us a kingdom and priests to God<br \/>\nTo reign with the Son<br \/>\nIs He worthy?Is He worthy?<br \/>\nOf all blessing and honor and glory<br \/>\nIs He worthy? Is He worthy?<br \/>\nIs He worthy of this?<br \/>\n<strong>He is!<\/strong><br \/>\nIs He worthy? Is He worthy?<br \/>\n<strong>He is! He is!<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As I groan, I wait in eager expectation for the day when Christ will return to make all things right. He will execute righteous judgment. He will gather his people from all nations. He is worthy.
