{"id":3766,"date":"2010-07-22T16:17:11","date_gmt":"2010-07-22T21:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/blog\/?p=3766"},"modified":"2010-07-22T16:17:11","modified_gmt":"2010-07-22T21:17:11","slug":"thankful-thursday-blessings-upon-blessings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/blog\/2010\/20100722-3766.htm","title":{"rendered":"Thankful Thursday: Blessings upon blessings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\n<!--\nupdatepage();\n\/\/--><\/script><\/p>\n<p><em>Sometimes I struggle to find something to be thankful for <\/em>and find only one source of hope and joy amidst the trials of life.  Sometimes I can only be thankful that God is unmovable, omniscient, omnipotent within what seems like darkness.  <\/p>\n<p><em>And then there are days like these<\/em> when the clouds roll back, and while the storm isn&#8217;t over, I see the world about me illumined.  On these days, I have much to be thankful for&#8211;all springing out of that same thing.  My God is the giver of good gifts&#8211;even the trials are good.  But some days I can see in addition to believing.  Today is one of those days.  Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to see through the eyes of faith today.<\/p>\n<p><b>Today I&#8217;m thankful&#8230;<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for a <strong>well-stocked fridge<\/strong> (and the beginnings of an appetite to eat it&#8211;I ate three whole meals plus a smoothie from McDonald&#8217;s yesterday, mostly without having to force myself.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for the <strong>brothers who mercilessly tease me<\/strong>&#8211;and who care about what&#8217;s going on in my life<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for an <strong>early night<\/strong> with no tossing and turning<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for an <strong>easy awakening<\/strong> after a restful night of sleep<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for <strong>pantyhose that didn&#8217;t run<\/strong> and a suit jacket that lay flat<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for a <strong>good interview<\/strong> with no questions that stumped me (except the one about how much teaching experience I&#8217;ve had at church&#8211;I don&#8217;t know, 10 years, maybe?)<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for a <strong>chance to see<\/strong> some of the gals from my internship (I briefly interned at the office I interviewed in&#8211;and one of the women on the search committee was a fellow intern and current Ph.D. student at the university.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for a delightful hour and a half of <strong>yard work with Erin<\/strong>.  She always encourages me so much&#8211;and it felt great to get my body moving (even if the sun was a bit warm!)<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for the <strong>joy I see in my friend&#8217;s eye<\/strong> as she recounts knowing that God has her and her husband exactly where He wants them&#8211;even if that means they have no idea what the next step is<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for <strong>Jonah&#8217;s request<\/strong> for &#8220;Rebekah to come inside the house and play with us.&#8221;  Even if I didn&#8217;t end up going inside to play with them, it&#8217;s nice to be loved by children.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for extra <strong>quarters for my meter<\/strong> thanks to my father<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for another <strong>good meal and conversation<\/strong> on our weekly Daddy-Daughter date<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for the <strong>ambitious personality<\/strong> God has given me, though it occasionally leads to disappointments, it also allows me to accomplish much<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for <strong>air conditioning<\/strong> in my car<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for a <strong>soft chair<\/strong> at the library and the luxury of enjoying it<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for getting the <strong>wedding picture<\/strong>s I took all processed and up today (Check &#8217;em out: <a href=\"photos\/2010weddingdressing\/ats00000.htm\" onClick=\"return popup(this, 'photos')\">Preparation and Dressing<\/a>, <a href=\"photos\/2010prewedding\/ats00000.htm\" onClick=\"return popup(this, 'photos')\">Prewedding Photos<\/a>, <a href=\"photos\/2010wedding\/ats00000.htm\" onClick=\"return popup(this, 'photos')\">Ceremony<\/a>, <a href=\"photos\/2010receivingline\/ats00000.htm\" onClick=\"return popup(this, 'photos')\">Receiving Line and Getaway<\/a>, <a href=\"photos\/2010reception\/ats00000.htm\" onClick=\"return popup(this, 'photos')\">Reception<\/a>, <a href=\"photos\/2010receptiondance\/ats00000.htm\" onClick=\"return popup(this, 'photos')\">Dance<\/a>.  )<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for an <strong>unexpected phone call<\/strong> and two delightful  kids to stay the day with me on Monday.  (This might necessitate another visit to the library&#8211;and possibly to my folks&#8217; house for some toys.
