“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
\n That I would see the goodness of the LORD
\n In the land of the living.
\nWait on the LORD;
\n Be of good courage,
\n And He shall strengthen your heart;
\n Wait, I say, on the LORD!”<\/p>\n

It’s been a long year.<\/b>
\nIt’s been a tough year.<\/p>\n

I’ve been tempted to give up a hundred times (a day).
\nI’ve been tempted to lose hope.<\/p>\n

And I would have–
\nexcept for one thing.<\/p>\n

I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Years ago, a girl in our church wrote a song based loosely on Psalm 27. I sing my best memory of it now and am reminded that I have hope, even in the moments when I find myself melancholy and almost ready to despair.<\/p>\n

Here’s my best memory (which is, I’m sure, quite imperfect):<\/p>\n

I am needing, You are giving
\nI am weary, You offer rest
\nThough all of me is not much to offer
\nYou give me Your best<\/p>\n

You’re the one my heart is needing
\nLord, my hunger You satisfy
\nHear my cry of desperate pleading
\nIn You I long to abide<\/p>\n

And I will see the goodness of the Lord
\nI will see the goodness of the Lord my God
\nIn the land of the living<\/i><\/p>\n
