Check out what I had on my nightstand <a href=\"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/blog\/2009\/20091027-650.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> last month.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.5minutesforbooks.com\/2118\/whats-on-your-nightstand-november\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"What's on Your Nightstand?\" src=\"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/images\/nightstand.jpg\" title=\"What's on Your Nightstand?\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>What I actually read was:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><u>Fiction<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The Trials of the Honorable F. Darcy<\/em> by Sara Angelini<br \/>\nI do not recommend this title.  It had a neat concept to start, but quickly degraded into a s.ex novel.<\/li>\n<li><em>When Calls the Heart<\/em> by Janette Oke<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s been a while since I read the Canadian West series&#8211;I don&#8217;t remember being too impressed with them when I read them as a pre-teen.  I&#8217;m inclined to think now that these might be among Oke&#8217;s best works.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Carousel Painter<\/em> by Judith Miller<br \/>\nThis is the first work I&#8217;ve read by Judith Miller and I&#8217;ll definitely be going back for more.  The &#8220;historical&#8221; part was detailed enough to be informative, but understated enough to not bog down the reader.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Measure of a Lady<\/em> by Deeanne Gist<br \/>\nI <i>loved<\/i> this title!  Gist honestly portrays desire and denial, respectfully lays out a &#8220;moral&#8221;, AND simultaneously tells a good story.  Not many can do all three.  Brava!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/books\/heyer_g-barrencorn.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Barren Corn<\/i><\/a> by Georgette Heyer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Nonfiction<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Catastrophe<\/em> by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann<\/li>\n<li><em>Guinness World Records 2010<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Somebody&#8217;s Gotta Say It<\/em> by Neal Boortz<\/li>\n<li><em>Beyond the Wardrobe: The Official Guide to Narnia<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>A Grief Observed<\/em> by C.S.
