Sometimes it means &#8220;Please call 911, a car across the street just burst into flames&#8221;. Sometimes it means there are high school football players trying to sell you something. (True stories all.)<\/p>\n<p>But sometimes knocks at the door mean something else entirely. Sometimes they&#8217;re wonderful things, expected and unexpected.<br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>This week I&#8217;m thankful&#8230;<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for the <b>Nebraska Furniture Mart men<\/b> knocking on my door to deliver my brand new <b>deep freeze<\/b>&#8211;which arrived precisely when it was supposed to, between 8 and 10 am on my birthday<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for opening my door to <b>my little sister Grace<\/b>, surprising me by coming up to visit for my birthday<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for hearing the doorbell and then my sister saying &#8220;Rebekah, you better come down here&#8221;&#8211;only to find that <b>Brenda<\/b> was here with a <b>birthday crown<\/b> especially for me<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for the door bursting open as my sisters and I were finishing supper&#8211;and <b>Beth and Ruth<\/b> coming in, bearing food to stock my new freezer with, and food to share<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;for another knock, this time bringing <b>Teresa and Joseph<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and another knock ushering <b>Cathy<\/b> inside<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and another knock announcing <b>Jon&#8217;s<\/b> arrival<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and still one more leading <b>Landon and Kylee<\/b> indoors<\/p>\n<p>And those were only the knocks at the door&#8211;I haven&#8217;t even counted the sweet texts and Facebook messages.<\/p>\n<p>It truly was a marvelous birthday&#8211;thanks to everyone for knocking yourself out to make it wonderful.<\/p>\n<p>(And, finally, thanks to God&#8211;who gave me the day on which to celebrate, the friends with whom to celebrate, and a life so full I can&#8217;t contain it.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes knocks at your door means someone just hit your car parked on the street.
