{"id":9594,"date":"2012-05-17T21:56:05","date_gmt":"2012-05-18T02:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/blog\/?p=9594"},"modified":"2012-05-17T21:56:05","modified_gmt":"2012-05-18T02:56:05","slug":"thankful-thursday-he-will-not-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/blog\/2012\/20120517-9594.htm","title":{"rendered":"Thankful Thursday: He will not break"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You&#8217;ve heard the saying &#8220;God never gives us more than we can bear&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not true.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/bekahcubed.menterz.com\/blog\/category\/thankfulness\/thankful-thursday\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Thankful Thursday banner\" src=\"images\/buttons\/thankfulthursday2.jpg\" title=\"Thankful Thursday banner\" class=\"alignleft\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMy mom says, &#8220;God never gives us more than He can bear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So much better.<\/p>\n<p>But here&#8217;s an even better promise&#8211;one straight from the pages of Scripture:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;A bruised reed he will not break,<br \/>\n    and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;<br \/>\n     he will faithfully bring forth justice.<br \/>\n He will not grow faint or be discouraged<br \/>\n    till he has established justice in the earth;<br \/>\n    and the coastlands wait for his law.&#8221;<br \/>\n~Isaiah 42:3-4 (ESV)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>How often do we feel like bruised reeds, like smouldering wicks? How often do we grow faint or get discouraged?<\/p>\n<p>For me, it&#8217;s pretty often.<\/p>\n<p>But in Christ, I have an amazing promise. He will not overburden me&#8211;and He will not be faint or get discouraged in pursuing justice. Thus, I can rest, even under the load that bends my reed to its capacity. <br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>This week, I&#8217;m thankful&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;that <strong>Jesus Christ bore a crushing load<\/strong> so that <strong>I would not be broken<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Surely he has borne our griefs<br \/>\n    and carried our sorrows;<br \/>\nyet we esteemed him stricken,<br \/>\n     smitten by God, and afflicted.<br \/>\n But he was pierced for our transgressions;<br \/>\n    <strong>he was crushed<\/strong> for our iniquities;<br \/>\nupon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,<br \/>\n     and with his wounds <strong>we are healed<\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>it was the will of the Lord to crush him<\/strong>;<br \/>\n    he has put him to grief;<br \/>\nwhen his soul makes an offering for guilt,<br \/>\n    he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;<br \/>\nthe will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.<br \/>\n Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied;<br \/>\nby his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,<br \/>\n     make many to be accounted righteous,<br \/>\n     and<strong> he shall bear their iniquities<\/strong>.&#8221;<br \/>\n~Isaiah 53:4-5, 10-11 (ESV)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You&#8217;ve heard the saying &#8220;God never gives us more than we can bear&#8221;?
