Not too long ago, I was bemoaning the lack of vintage clothing in used stores. I knew that old people were still dying (I work in long term care, you know)–but you couldn’t tell by looking in the used stores. Where once I could find a plethora of beautiful vintage, I was now experiencing a veritable famine.
Until last week when, on a whim, I decided to take a look at the Halloween costumes.
What I discovered there was definitely NOT Halloween costumes.
This week I’m thankful for…
…a navy and white polka dot dress
…an adorable orange 20s shift
…my very own Jane Austen style get-up
…another fabulous shift, this one from the 60s
…an orange dress I can’t date, which looks shapeless but is anything but when on
…a Cher maxi, which needs only some renewed elastic in its neckline to be a perfect fit
…another maxi, this one in hot pink with a lovely drape
…a beautiful silver coat dress (very formal)
…a hat that ties under my chin
…a rather ordinary hat
…a quite extraordinary hat
And I’m thankful for the Lord of love, who gives to me so much more than I need–who allows me to enjoy an abundance beyond what I could imagine.
What great finds! Odd that they were in the Halloween section!
I LOVE VINTAGE CLOTHES! And I LOVE that blue flowered shift dress you found. That is absolutely gorgeous. And the hat! AAAHHH!!!!
I know exactly what you are talking about. I’ve actually been perusing the Halloween “costumes” at our local Goodwill every week because there are tons of good dress-up/play clothes. We’ve found dragon wings and a spaceman’s hat that’s pretty unique. Probably not something YOU would want to wear around town but if you were a 2 or 4 year old boy you’d be be pretty ecstatic about.
In my opinion – the best thing about Halloween is finding all the clothing goodies that are otherwise hard to track down. Congrats on your finds!
Love the hats–especially the last one!
